What is Cumin?
Cumin is one of the most commonly used spices in Ayurvedic cooking. It is a natural healing herb. The Sanskrit name is Jeereka and the botanical name is Cuminum cyminum. Cumin comes in many forms such as roasted seeds, plain seeds, and powder form.

There are many ways to use cumin seeds in your daily diet to enhance the flavor of your foods and to improve your digestion/health. Here are a few ways you can add cumin to your daily diet.
1. Sauté a few seeds in hot oil in a cooking pan and then add vegetables or any lentils
2. Enjoy it as a herbal tea: Take one-half teaspoonful of cumin seeds in 2 cups of water and boil it for 5 minutes and strain it. Once the tea is at room temperature, honey and lime can be added for more flavor. *These seeds can be eaten as well later*
3. Cumin powder can be sprinkled on top of foods to add more flavor
